Grant Park/Streeterville Transportation Demand Management Study
Canete Medina Consulting Group Inc. is a member of the consultant team tasked with developing a transportation demand management plan for theNorth Grant Park/Streeterville area. The primary objective was to identify transportation/ traffic-related issues in the study area to develop physical, operational, and regulatory solutions as part of an overall transportation demand management (TDM) plan. The TDM plan will include a review/redesign of the existing infrastructure, the development of policies to influence travel behavior across special-use modes, as well as creation of incentives for public-private partnerships to address mobility needs. Canete Medina is responsible for collecting data for each “hotspot” to observe traffic and curbside movement during the am peak, midday peak, and pm peak times over a four-day timeframe during each week. The field data collection was conducted over a three-week period. Canete Medina installed observation cameras at each “hotspot” to record multi-modal vehicles, pedestrian, and special-use mode traffic activity to support the TDM planning process. We also assisted in developing recommendations for managing transportation demand in the study area.
Signs and Markings Study
The objective of the project was to study the operations and practices of the City of Chicago’s Bureau of Signs and Markings (CDOT), particularly in the areas of sign manufacturing, sign installation, pavement marking, and materials management. As a sub-consultant to L.S. Gallegos and Associates, Canete Medina (formerly cmQue, inc.) provided subject matter expertise in the area of operations analysis. In addition to collecting information, documenting operational practices, making site visits, and assessing the Bureau’s operations, Canete Medina also developed frameworks that were used to benchmark the Bureau’s operations relative to the operations and best practices in other similar metropolitan areas.
